Investigation into the Disappearance
The investigation into the disappearance of Carlos DeLeon, the victim, began when concerned family and friends reported not having seen or heard from him since mid-June. Following their report, LAPD missing-persons detectives launched an inquiry. In November, the case was handed over to homicide detectives.
Discovery of the Remains
The breakthrough in the investigation came when information was received that DeLeon had been deceased and buried in the rear yard of a residence located in the 16200 block of Community Court. Acting on this lead, detectives obtained a search warrant, which was executed on Tuesday morning.
The search and rescue team, captured by AIR7 HD, commenced excavation in the backyard of the property. To access the burial site, a structure situated at the rear of the property was removed, along with the concrete foundation beneath it. After careful excavation, the remains of DeLeon were discovered.
Pending Investigation
The Los Angeles Police Department has refrained from releasing further details, including the possible cause of death, as the investigation is ongoing.
