COIMBATORE – In a significant breakthrough, the Race Course police have apprehended two individuals, one of whom is a minor, in connection with the murder of a 45-year-old man. The victim’s partially decomposed body was discovered on the railway tracks last Friday.
Identified as Ravi, a cook by profession, the deceased had allegedly been involved in a same-sex relationship with the prime suspect, M Mohammed Firdose Raj (28), a daily wage laborer from Madurai. Both Ravi and Firdose Raj had been residing on a platform in front of the Coimbatore Medical College Hospital. A few months ago, a 16-year-old boy, who had dropped out of Class 9, befriended the couple, and the trio would often gather at the nearby railway tracks to consume alcohol.
Investigations into the incident revealed that on November 14, at approximately 10 am, the three individuals had gone to the railway tracks to engage in their regular drinking session. However, in a state of intoxication, Ravi allegedly made sexual advances towards the minor, leading to a heated argument between them. The altercation quickly escalated into a violent quarrel, during which Firdose Raj and the minor bludgeoned the victim’s head with a large stone. Before fleeing the scene, the suspects stole Rs 300 from the deceased’s pocket.

Inspector Arjun, leading the investigation, meticulously reviewed the CCTV footage, which ultimately provided crucial information about the suspects. Subsequently, the police apprehended both individuals after a thorough investigation.
The arrest of the two accused has brought some relief to the local community, who had been gripped with fear following the shocking crime. The police have assured the public that they will leave no stone unturned in ensuring a fair trial and securing justice for the victim.
