Accident – Death – Obituary News : Tragic Hit and Run Incident Claims the Life of a Woman in Lucknow

LUCKNOW: A heart-wrenching hit and run incident took place in Lucknow, as a municipal corporation tanker crushed a woman to death after colliding with her two-wheeler near the multi-level parking in Hazratganj. This devastating accident occurred right before the eyes of the victim’s daughter, echoing a similar incident in Gomtinagar Extension the previous day, where a nine-year-old boy lost his life after being hit by a speeding SUV.

The victim, identified as Rahila Khan, a 60-year-old resident of Husainabad in Chowk, was riding her scooter towards Hazratganj Crossing around 4pm when the LMC tanker, driven by Mazhar Khan, struck her vehicle from behind. The impact caused her to fall to the ground, and tragically, the tanker rolled over her head, resulting in her death on the spot. The police confirmed these details based on the footage captured by CCTV cameras in the area.

Eyewitnesses at the scene reported hearing a loud bang followed by the sound of something being smashed. They immediately turned around and were confronted with the sight of a woman lying in a pool of blood, her limbs trembling in pain. The shock and horror of the incident left commuters shaken and traumatized.

Assistant Commissioner of Police, Arvind Verma, stated that an FIR is yet to be registered as they are awaiting a formal complaint. Initial investigations revealed that Rahila and her daughter had gone shopping before the accident occurred. The police rushed Rahila to the SPM Civil Hospital, where doctors sadly declared her dead.

Fortunately, the accident was captured on a nearby CCTV camera, which aided the police in identifying the vehicle involved and apprehending the driver responsible. Rahila’s daughter, Fareen Khan, also suffered minor injuries during the incident. She revealed that they had gone to Hazratganj to shop for kitchen fittings, and the tragic accident took place around 4 pm.

Rahila leaves behind her husband, Nisar Hasan, aged 65, as well as her sons Asif and Anas, and daughters Aroma and Farin. Nisar is a retired employee of the Industrial Technology Institute. The family and community are devastated by the loss of Rahila, who was a beloved member of their close-knit neighborhood.

The incident serves as a stark reminder of the dangers faced by pedestrians and two-wheeler riders on the streets of Lucknow. Authorities must prioritize road safety measures and enforce stricter regulations to prevent such tragic accidents from occurring in the future.
