Motorcyclist Killed in Antioch Crash: Family Pushes for Charges

(WKRN) – The family of a motorcyclist who tragically lost his life in a devastating crash in Antioch is calling for justice and pushing for charges against the driver responsible. Shannon McComb, a 41-year-old beloved father and barber from Murfreesboro, was killed in the accident, leaving his family heartbroken and seeking answers.

Describing Shannon as a kind, generous, and loving person, his sister, Rasheena McComb, tearfully expressed the profound impact his loss has had on their entire family. “He killed my brother, but he also killed me, my whole family,” she lamented, struggling to come to terms with the tragedy.

Shannon, a father of two young children, had recently enrolled in school and was proud of the motorcycle he owned. His sister shared that he had been excited about his new educational journey and cherished his bike.

The devastating loss of Shannon has left his family grappling with an unimaginable pain. Rasheena described waking up each morning, hoping that it’s all just a terrible dream. “I’ve never felt pain like this before,” she sobbed.

The fatal crash occurred on Lavergne Couchville Pike near Murfreesboro Pike on Thursday night. According to investigators, Shannon collided with the rear right side of a pickup truck as it was making a left turn at the intersection. The preliminary investigation suggests that the truck driver failed to yield the right of way, leaving Shannon with no opportunity to avoid the collision.

Tragically, Shannon’s death adds to a concerning trend of rising motorcycle fatalities in Tennessee. Data from the Tennessee Department of Safety reveals that there have been 193 motorcycle fatalities so far this year, marking a significant increase compared to previous years.

As the family mourns the loss of their beloved Shannon, they are demanding justice for his untimely death. The driver of the truck, identified as 25-year-old Fernando Orduna-Pichardo, was cited for driving without a license or insurance and for failure to yield the right of way resulting in death. However, Rasheena argues that mere citations are not enough. She believes that her brother’s death should be treated as vehicle homicide and that the driver should face more severe charges.

“We need more than citations. My brother is dead, that’s vehicle homicide. Whether it was intentional or not, you need to obey the law, period,” Rasheena asserted, emphasizing the importance of accountability.

Rasheena finds the circumstances surrounding her brother’s death deeply unfair and hopes that the state of Tennessee will make an example out of Orduna-Pichardo. She wants him to face the consequences of his actions to prevent similar tragedies from occurring in the future. “The next person could be your family,” she pleaded.

Shannon’s funeral is scheduled to take place on Friday, December 1, in Grand Rapids, Michigan. As the family prepares to say their final goodbyes, they hope that justice will be served and that Shannon’s memory will be honored by bringing attention to the importance of road safety for all..
