A shocking incident unfolded at Ban Namphu Hin Lat School in Khon Kaen, Chaiyaphum province, when a mentally disturbed man went on a rampage, wielding a knife and chasing teachers and students around the flagpole. The incident, which took place at 8:30 am, resulted in injuries and panic among the school community. The man, identified as 37-year-old Reungrit, was later apprehended by the police.

According to witnesses, Reungrit arrived at the school premises on his motorcycle, carrying a knife. He immediately began behaving erratically, yelling and waving the knife around. Teachers and students who were participating in the flag-raising ceremony were chased by the man, causing chaos and fear among them.

Quick-thinking teachers instructed the students to run and seek shelter inside the school buildings. Amidst the commotion, one teacher sustained a minor injury from the knife. Reungrit then fled the scene and sought refuge in his house, which was conveniently located near the school.

It took the combined efforts of the Khon Kaen rescue team, hospital staff, and local police over an hour to apprehend Reungrit. He was finally taken into custody and transferred to Khon Kaen Hospital for a detailed physical examination and close supervision by hospital and police officials.

The motive behind Reungrit’s actions remains unknown as he has refused to disclose any information. It has been reported that he has a history of mental illness. Currently, Reungrit is under close observation at Khon Kaen Hospital, with both the police and hospital staff closely monitoring his condition.
