Gaya, Bihar: In a devastating incident, two individuals, including a former mukhiya, lost their lives when an unidentified heavy vehicle collided with their car from behind on the Gaya-Dobhi National Highway-83 near the village of Hario, under the jurisdiction of Magadh Medical police station. The unfortunate incident took place late Monday evening.

The victims have been identified as Ajit Kumar (54), the former mukhiya of Lalganj panchayat under Chandauti police station, and Santosh Kumar (28) of Lalganj. They were returning home to Gaya from Hazaribagh in Jharkhand, where they had gone to purchase a second-hand car.

The collision resulted in the car sustaining severe damage to its rear side. The driver, Neeraj (21), and another passenger, Bablu (22), suffered minor injuries and were immediately rushed to a private nursing home for medical treatment. Both individuals are currently receiving treatment and are in stable condition.

Unfortunately, despite the efforts of medical professionals at Anugrah Narayan Magadh Medical College and Hospital, both Ajit Kumar and Santosh Kumar succumbed to their injuries while undergoing treatment.

According to Shailesh Kumar, the Station House Officer (SHO) of Magadh Medical police station, the truck involved in the accident fled the scene. The police are currently conducting investigations to locate the unidentified vehicle. The bodies of the deceased were handed over to their respective families after the completion of the postmortem examination.

This tragic incident has left the local community in shock and mourning. Ajit Kumar, a respected figure as the former mukhiya, was known for his dedication to serving the people of Lalganj panchayat. Santosh Kumar, a young individual with a promising future, had his life cut short in this unfortunate accident.
