Police – Accident – Death – Obituary News : LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — A man has been apprehended by Metro police on charges of open murder after allegedly stabbing another man in the neck near downtown Las Vegas, according to an arrest report.

Lazaro Hernandez, aged 30 and a resident of Las Vegas, now faces the serious charge, as records have shown.

The incident took place on November 15 at approximately 3:35 p.m. when Metro police responded to a distressing call in the 800 block of Searles Avenue, located near Las Vegas Boulevard. The call reported a man lying unresponsive on the sidewalk, bleeding profusely.

Upon arrival, officers discovered Ian Gordon, who had suffered an apparent stab wound to his neck. They also noticed another man standing near Gordon, whom they proceeded to interview, as stated in the arrest report.

According to the witness, he was standing about ten feet away when he noticed Gordon lying on the ground, with an unidentified fluid flowing from underneath him. The witness further revealed that a man wearing a trench coat was seen conversing with Gordon while walking up and down the street, as mentioned in the police report.

In a significant breakthrough, officers managed to obtain dash cam footage captured approximately 30 minutes prior to the incident. The footage depicted a man, donning a jacket and a red scarf, standing over Gordon as he lay on the ground. The suspect was seen holding a knife and subsequently appeared to wipe it on his shirt, according to details outlined in the report.

On November 16, police spotted a man matching the suspect’s description wearing the same jacket and red scarf on Las Vegas Boulevard, just south of Jerry’s Nugget. The eyewitness positively identified the man as the individual he had seen standing over Gordon. Subsequently, the man, later identified as Lazaro Hernandez, was promptly taken into custody.

During the course of the investigation, Hernandez admitted to being in the vicinity of the stabbing but vehemently denied possessing a knife. He provided detailed descriptions of the clothing worn by Gordon, as well as the backpack he carried. However, officers later discovered a folding knife behind a bush near the location where Hernandez was detained.

Hernandez was subsequently transported to the Clark County Detention Center, where he was booked on charges of open murder. It has been determined that he will appear in court on Wednesday morning to face the charges brought against him.
