The incident occurred on Monday night when a group of 13 devotees from Maharashtra’s Solapur were returning from their visit to the Srisailam temple. After completing their darshan at the temple, they embarked on their journey to Rayachoty. Tragedy struck when one of the vehicle’s tires burst near Markapuram.

According to the police, a complaint has been lodged by Guruprasad Sivanand Hiramat, a 26-year-old native of Sholapur town in Maharashtra. He stated that he, along with eleven of his family members, had hired a vehicle to travel to Srisailam. The driver of the vehicle was identified as Balappa Shambulingu Chencoli, a 30-year-old man from Vijayapur district in Karnataka.

During the night, the driver started driving recklessly along the NH 544 D near Kommatikunta junction. As a result of the burst tire, the vehicle skidded and overturned, causing the passengers to be thrown out and sustain injuries. They were immediately rushed to a nearby hospital in an ambulance.

In recent news, The Times of India has also reported on other accidents. One such article highlights the increase in accidents in Pilibhit district, attributing it to the dominance of sugarcane and paddy-loaded tractor-trolleys on the highways, especially during the winter season. The authorities have identified flattened roadside paths and small shops at junction points as key factors contributing to accidents. To prevent further incidents, measures such as maintaining road levels, using radium tape and reflectors on vehicles, and removing small shops from junction points are being implemented. Additionally, dedicated lanes for sugarcane-loaded vehicles are being constructed to reduce traffic congestion and collisions.

Another article reports on a fire that broke out in the parking area of a residential complex in Thane, Maharashtra, damaging 16 vehicles, including cars and two-wheelers. Fortunately, no injuries were reported, and the fire was extinguished by the fire department within 45 minutes. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.

In yet another news piece, it was revealed that several PUC (pollution under control) centers in Noida have been issuing fake pollution certificates for vehicles that fail emission tests. Vehicle owners can pay an additional fee to obtain a valid certificate, undermining efforts to combat pollution in the region. The transport department has issued a warning and promised strict action against centers found to be violating the rules.

As the investigation into the tragic road accident in Vijayawada continues, it is crucial for authorities to address the underlying causes of such incidents and implement measures to ensure road safety.
