Tragic Crash in Accomack County Claims Lives of Father and Daughter

ACCOMACK COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — A devastating two-vehicle collision in Accomack County has resulted in the untimely death of a 69-year-old man and his 17-year-old daughter. Virginia State Police are currently investigating the incident.

The fatal crash took place on Tuesday, November 21, around 4:15 p.m. The location of the accident was identified as 16239 Lankford Highway, near Annis Lane in Nelsonia.

According to authorities, the driver of a 2021 Mazda sedan, who has been identified as 69-year-old Augusto Aguilar from Tampa, Florida, was traveling northbound on Lankford Highway. Tragically, Aguilar crossed over into the southbound lane, resulting in a head-on collision with a Freightliner truck.

Emergency services swiftly arrived at the scene and transported Aguilar to Riverside Shore Memorial Hospital. Despite the best efforts of medical professionals, Aguilar succumbed to his injuries and tragically lost his life. His 17-year-old daughter, Allyssa, who was seated in the rear of the Mazda, tragically passed away instantaneously due to the impact of the collision. Aguilar’s wife, Maria, who occupied the front passenger seat, sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was promptly taken to TidalHealth hospital in Salisbury, Maryland.

The driver of the Freightliner truck has been identified as 63-year-old Ervin Mizriky from Henrico. Fortunately, Mizriky’s injuries were non-life-threatening, and he was transported to Riverside Shore Memorial Hospital for treatment.

As of now, no charges have been filed in connection with the incident, according to Virginia State Police. The investigation is ongoing, and authorities are working diligently to determine the cause of the crash.
