32-Year-Old Businessman and Two Children Killed in Car Accident in West Delhi

Accident – Death – Obituary News : New Delhi: A tragic accident in West Delhi’s Rajouri Garden claimed the lives of a 32-year-old businessman and his two children, including an eight-month-old infant, on Tuesday. The man’s wife was also injured in the accident. The family was riding a scooter when they were hit by a car. The driver of the car fled the scene, and no arrests have been made so far.

The deceased have been identified as Dinesh Vasan, his eight-year-old son, and his eight-month-old infant. The family resided in Uttam Nagar. Vasan’s wife, Preeti (32), is in critical condition and is currently receiving medical treatment. Police are investigating whether the victims were wearing helmets at the time of the accident. Vasan owned a furniture business in Kirti Nagar.

The authorities were alerted about the incident around 1 am on Tuesday. According to DCP (West) Vichitra Veer, the initial investigation revealed that the car hit the scooter from behind. The impact of the collision was so severe that the scooter was dragged for approximately 100 meters. Passersby discovered the victims lying on the road in a pool of blood and immediately called the police. The father and son were declared dead upon arrival at the hospital, while the eight-month-old infant succumbed to his injuries during treatment.

The Vasan family had visited Ramesh Nagar to meet their parents and were returning home late at night when the accident occurred. The scooter was completely damaged in the collision, and broken parts of both vehicles were found scattered along the road.

An FIR has been registered under the relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code, and the police have formed several teams to crack the case. They are currently reviewing CCTV footage from the scene to identify the offending vehicle and its driver.

A relative of the Vasan family stated, “A black-colored car hit them from behind. My brother-in-law and his son died on the spot.”

This tragic incident adds to the alarming number of road accidents in Delhi this year. As of last month, there have been 4,803 reported accidents, out of which 1,141 were classified as fatal, resulting in 1,175 deaths.

In other recent news, an eight-year-old boy was fatally attacked by a leopard in Balrampur district, Uttar Pradesh. The boy had ventured near a sugarcane field when the leopard, hiding in the fields, attacked him. Despite the villagers’ attempts to scare away the leopard, the boy was severely injured and later pronounced dead at the hospital. The forest department has launched a combing operation and installed a cage to capture the leopard.

Another heartbreaking incident occurred in Delhi, where a two-year-old boy was killed and his older brother injured in an alleged assault by their father following a dispute with his wife. The father, who is unemployed and struggling with alcoholism, locked himself in a room with the children and used a sharp-edged weapon to harm them. The police have filed a murder case against the father, who also attempted suicide.
