24-Year-Old International Student Gurvinder Nath Killed in Deadly Carjacking in Mississauga

Accident – Death – Obituary News : Peel police have taken a young person into custody and pressed charges in relation to a tragic carjacking incident that resulted in the death of a 24-year-old international student who was delivering food in Mississauga. The fatal incident occurred during the early hours of July 9 in the vicinity of Britannia and Creditview roads.

According to the police, as Gurvinder Nath, the victim from Brampton, Ontario, arrived at the delivery address, he was confronted by unknown individuals who attempted to steal his vehicle. A violent altercation ensued between Nath and the assailants. Insp. Phil King of Peel Regional Police’s Homicide Bureau stated in an update in July that investigators believed the food order was intentionally placed to lure the driver to the specific location.

Following the altercation, the suspects fled the scene in the victim’s vehicle, leaving Nath on the side of the road with life-threatening injuries. Fortunately, several witnesses rushed to his aid and promptly called for medical assistance. Nath was immediately transported to a trauma center, but tragically succumbed to his injuries on July 14.

Hours after the attack, Nath’s abandoned vehicle was discovered in the vicinity of Old Creditview and Old Derry roads, less than five kilometers away from the initial crime scene, as reported by Insp. King.

The recent development in the case came on Wednesday when the police apprehended a young individual in connection with the homicide. Due to legal constraints outlined in the Youth Criminal Justice Act, the identity of the accused cannot be disclosed. The individual is now facing a second-degree murder charge.

Nath, who arrived in Canada from India in July 2021, had aspirations of starting his own business, as shared by friends and family members who previously spoke to CTV News Toronto. The victim’s cousin, Balram Krishan, expressed profound grief over the incident, emphasizing Nath’s innocence and describing him as a victim of a senseless attack while simply delivering pizza.

Peel police emphasize that the investigation is still ongoing and urge anyone with information or video footage related to the incident to come forward and contact the Homicide and Missing Persons Bureau at 905-453-2121, ext. 3205.
