Merced Man Arrested in Connection to Shootings, Including Halloween Party Killing

A 21-year-old resident of Merced, UK, has been apprehended by the Merced Police Department Gang Violence Suppression unit on Tuesday. The arrest of Darrion Wayne Murphy was made in connection to two separate shooting incidents, one of which resulted in the tragic death of a teenager during a Halloween party.

The Merced Police Department reported that the arrest of Murphy took place without any incident in the 13000 block of Jefferson Street in Le Grand. At the time of his arrest, Murphy was found to be in possession of a firearm, as stated in a Facebook post by the Merced Police Department.

Authorities have identified Murphy as the primary suspect in the shooting death of 17-year-old Renzo Arellano, who was attending a Halloween party on October 27th in Merced. Furthermore, they have also linked Murphy to another shooting incident at a 7-Eleven store in Merced on November 14th, where a store clerk was shot in the chest.

Following his arrest, Murphy has been booked into the Merced County Jail and is now facing charges of murder, attempted murder, and armed robbery. Jail records indicate that his bond has been set at $1.75 million.

Tragic Halloween Party Shooting

The shooting at the Halloween party prompted a rapid response from law enforcement. Officers were alerted to the incident after receiving multiple calls reporting numerous shots fired in the vicinity of Merced Avenue and Shirley Street in Merced. Upon arrival, they discovered the victim, Renzo Arellano, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Unfortunately, Arellano succumbed to his injuries.

7-Eleven Store Shooting

The second shooting incident involving Murphy occurred at a 7-Eleven store located at 2255 East Gerard Ave. in Merced. The incident was reported after a distress call was made by a courageous clerk who had been shot in the chest. Fortunately, the clerk was swiftly transported to a regional trauma center and managed to survive the attack.
