Accident – Death – Obituary News : Suspect Arrested in Connection to Two Separate Shootings in Merced, California
FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) — A suspect has been apprehended in connection to two separate shootings that resulted in the death of a teenager at a Halloween party and the hospitalization of a convenience store clerk in Merced.

The incident involving the store clerk took place at approximately 3 am last Tuesday at the 7-Eleven located on Gerard Avenue and Carmel Road, near Highway 99. According to the Merced police, the suspect, identified as 21-year-old Darrion Wayne Murphy, shot the clerk in the chest after stealing money from the cash register. The victim was promptly transported to a nearby hospital and is expected to make a full recovery.
Following the incident, authorities promptly launched an investigation and were able to identify Murphy as the perpetrator. A warrant for his arrest was subsequently issued.
In a surprising turn of events, Murphy was also identified as the suspect in a separate shooting that resulted in the death of a 17-year-old named Renzo Arellano. The shooting occurred on Friday, October 27, during a Halloween party held at a residence near Merced Avenue and Shirley Street.
On Tuesday night, Murphy was apprehended in Le Grand in connection with both shootings. He has since been booked into the Merced County Jail on charges of murder, attempted murder, armed robbery, and other weapons-related offenses.

This arrest brings some relief to the community of Merced, which has been rattled by these violent incidents. Authorities are continuing their investigation to determine the motive behind the shootings and if there are any additional suspects involved.
