19-Year-Old Youth Brutally Murdered in Public by Armed Men Connected to Drug Racket

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A shocking incident took place on Tuesday evening at Karimadom Colony in Fort police station limits, where a 19-year-old youth named Arshad was mercilessly hacked to death by a group of armed men believed to have connections with a notorious drug racket. The gruesome murder unfolded in front of the public, leaving the community in a state of shock and disbelief.

Local sources reveal that Arshad was actively involved in anti-drug campaigning and was a prominent member of a local collective dedicated to fighting against drug peddling in the area. This collective had been spearheading various efforts to eradicate the drug menace that had plagued the locality for some time. In a significant development, the police have detained two individuals who were part of the gang responsible for Arshad’s brutal murder, and they are currently being interrogated. It has been disclosed that one of the detainees is a teenager, while the other is a juvenile.

According to eyewitnesses, a heated argument erupted between Arshad and a group of seven individuals in the colony. The altercation reportedly stemmed from their disagreement with Arshad’s anti-drug activities. Some of the instigators were outsiders, and the situation seemed to calm down when local residents intervened and diffused the tension. However, to everyone’s horror, the group returned armed with swords and other sharp-edged weapons, launching a vicious attack on Arshad.

Shockingly, some residents of the colony decided to join forces with the outsiders, compounding the brutality inflicted upon Arshad. He sustained multiple grievous wounds and was immediately rushed to a nearby private hospital. Due to the severity of his injuries, Arshad was subsequently transferred to the Medical College Hospital, where, tragically, he succumbed to his wounds.
