In a devastating incident that unfolded on Tuesday morning, a speeding car with a license plate bearing the inscription ‘DM, Madhepura’, crushed three individuals to death near Purwari Tola, under the jurisdiction of Phulparas police station in Madhubani district, north Bihar. The victims, including a woman, a child, and a labourer, were fatally hit on National Highway 57. The car, reportedly en route from Patna to Madhepura, left a trail of destruction in its wake.

The vehicle in question was a white SUV with the registration number BR-43E0005. Clearly visible on its plate was the label ‘DM-Madhepura’. According to eyewitnesses, the car was speeding when it struck a woman and her child, followed by a labourer who was engaged in road maintenance work. Tragically, all three victims lost their lives on the spot. Another injured person was rushed to the Darbhanga Medical College and Hospital for medical attention.

Efforts to contact the District Magistrate (DM) of Madhepura, Vijay Prakash Meena, on the phone remained unsuccessful.

The deceased have been identified as Gudia Devi, aged 28, her seven-year-old daughter, and the labourer named Ashok Shah. The injured labourer, Raju Singh, is currently receiving medical care.

It remains unclear whether the DM was present inside the car at the time of the accident. However, local villagers present at the scene claimed that the DM, accompanied by a bodyguard and the driver, fled the spot on a motorcycle after the incident occurred. Subsequently, the Madhubani district administration promptly removed the car from the accident site.
