Accident – Death – Obituary News : Two construction workers tragically lost their lives and seven others sustained injuries when the roof of a convention centre under construction collapsed on them in Moinabad, Telangana. The incident occurred on Monday evening, sending shockwaves through the local community.

According to the police, the accident took place at Surangal village in the Moinabad mandal. The property owners had commissioned the construction of a function hall-cum-convention centre in close proximity to a private indoor stadium. Tragically, as the workers were attempting to lay a high roof without pillars, supported only by an aluminium frame, disaster struck.

Inspector A Venkat Ranga from the Moinabad police station provided further details, stating, “While work was still in progress, the roof along with a side wall collapsed. Two workers, who were involved in welding and construction work, fell from the roof and suffered severe head injuries, resulting in their immediate deaths. Additionally, seven other workers were injured as debris fell on them during the collapse.”

All the victims involved in this tragic incident were migrant workers from various states. The deceased have been identified as Bablu, 35, from West Bengal and Sunil, 36, from Bihar. The injured workers were rushed to nearby private hospitals for treatment, and fortunately, they are now out of danger.

The construction site was in chaos following the collapse, with authorities and rescue teams working tirelessly to search for any other victims trapped under the rubble. With the assistance of the Disaster Response Force (DRF), the bodies of the two deceased workers were eventually recovered and sent to Chevella government hospital for postmortem examinations.

Investigations are currently underway to determine the exact cause of the roof collapse. The police have identified one of the owners of the convention centre as Srinivas. It is expected that further inquiries will shed light on any potential negligence or structural issues that may have contributed to this tragic incident.
