Three People Dead and One in Critical Condition After Shooting in Custer County, Colorado

Police – Accident – Death – Obituary News : CUSTER COUNTY, Colo. — A tragic incident unfolded in Custer County on Monday afternoon, resulting in the deaths of three individuals and leaving one person in critical condition after a shooting took place. The Custer County Sheriff’s Office was alerted to the scene at 173 Rocky Ridge Road, located northeast of Westcliffe in unincorporated Custer County, around 1 p.m.

According to official reports, the shooting arose from a property dispute between neighbors that escalated into a violent confrontation. Deputies arrived at the scene to find four individuals near the property line in a wooded area. Tragically, three people, two men, and one woman, succumbed to their injuries. Another woman sustained multiple gunshot wounds and was rushed to the hospital, where she remains in critical condition.

The exact number of individuals involved in the dispute has yet to be determined, as stated by the sheriff’s office. However, it was revealed that a surveyor was present at the property line alongside the group when the shooting occurred. Thankfully, the surveyor managed to escape unharmed, according to the Custer County Sheriff’s Office.

The suspect in the shooting has been identified as 45-year-old Hanme K. Clark. Authorities are currently searching for Clark, who was last seen driving a white Ram 1500 pickup truck with a topper and a Colorado license plate number BHLK27. The sheriff’s office has not disclosed the specific location where Clark is believed to be.

As a precautionary measure, a shelter-in-place alert was issued to nearby residents via Everbridge. The alert was in effect for approximately six hours and was eventually lifted at 8 p.m.

Residents in the area are urged to sign up for alerts through the Custer and Fremont County Everbridge Website to stay informed and receive prompt notifications in case of any emergency situations.
