Mother Fatally Injured While Protecting Son from Violent Mob in Uttar Pradesh, India

Siddharth Nagar: In a tragic incident that occurred on Monday, a 58-year-old woman lost her life in the Shohratgarh area of Uttar Pradesh’s Siddharth Nagar district while bravely attempting to shield her son from a violent mob.

The local police have apprehended two suspects in connection with the attack and are actively working to identify the remaining individuals involved.

The victim, identified as Shanno Bano, courageously rushed to the aid of her son, Mohammed Saleem, 29, who was being accused of mobile theft and was being beaten by a crowd near their residence.

Tragically, during her selfless act of protection, Shanno was struck on the head by the mob. She was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital, but unfortunately succumbed to her injuries during treatment.

Garvit Singh, the Police Circle Officer of Shohratgarh, stated that two suspects, Amit Kumar and Imran Khan, have been arrested based on surveillance footage and eyewitness accounts. The authorities are currently making every effort to apprehend the remaining assailants.

According to the police, Shanno’s husband was away for work when she heard her son’s desperate cries for help from outside their home.

“Without a second thought, the woman rushed outside and placed herself between the attackers and her son, only to be brutally struck on the head with a stick. She collapsed to the ground, lying in a pool of blood,” added the police officer.

Local residents immediately rushed Shanno to the hospital, where doctors sadly declared her deceased. The devastating news was later conveyed to her husband, Mohammed Hamidullah.

The shocking incident has sparked widespread outrage in the community, with locals demanding swift and severe action against the accused individuals. The police have assured the public that they will take stringent measures to ensure justice is served.
