Rockford Man Fatally Shot on City’s West Side

A tragic incident unfolded in the early hours of Friday morning when a 29-year-old man from Rockford was fatally shot on the west side of the city. The victim has been identified as Floyd Rush, according to the Winnebago County Coroner’s Office.

The shooting occurred at approximately 1:05 a.m. in the 1300 block of Evelyn Street. Rockford Police Department swiftly responded to the scene after receiving reports of gunshots in the area. Upon arrival, officers discovered Rush lying on the street with a gunshot wound to his torso. He was immediately transported to a nearby hospital for urgent medical treatment.

Witnesses at the scene informed the police that Rush had been involved in an argument with a woman before the shooting took place. The woman then fled the scene in a vehicle, which was later spotted on Auburn Street, according to authorities.

Arianna Hawkins, a 26-year-old resident of Rockford, was taken into custody in connection with the incident.
