Accident – Death – Obituary News : DONELSON, Tenn. (WKRN) — The city of Metro Nashville is grappling with a surge in dangerous and non-sanctioned street racing activities. Law enforcement agencies are cracking down on this illegal phenomenon that has recently taken place at the intersection of McGavock Pike and Century Boulevard.
From a vantage point overlooking the street, the aftermath of the street racing becomes apparent, with the unmistakable traces of burnt rubber forming a large circle that encompasses the entire intersection. Metro Nashville police have reported that these burnouts are the result of illegal activities carried out by individuals who have taken control of the intersection.

In the most recent incident, more than 60 vehicles and numerous individuals congregated at the intersection, obstructing traffic in order to perform dangerous driving stunts. This alarming trend has become increasingly common, prompting law enforcement to take immediate action. Captain Raymond Jones of the MNPD Traffic Division expressed concerns about the dangers associated with these activities, particularly the reckless behavior and high speeds involved. He emphasized that drivers frequently disregard traffic lights on major thoroughfares, placing not only police personnel at risk but also innocent mothers, fathers, and children on the streets.
According to a press release issued by the Metro Nashville Police Department, officers responding to the scene witnessed a man identified as Lakota Young firing a gun into the air in the presence of multiple bystanders. When the officers attempted to pull over the Dodge Charger blocking the roadway, the vehicle accelerated to an alarming speed of 90 miles per hour.
After a pursuit, law enforcement managed to apprehend the suspects. Four men, including the driver, 19-year-old Xaiver Daimwood from Shelbyville, were arrested. Daimwood faces multiple charges, including aggravated reckless driving, drag racing, evading arrest, inciting a riot, and driving under the influence (DUI). Lakota Young, 20, from Estill Springs, was charged with reckless endangerment with a weapon, rioting, and drug possession. Additionally, two individuals, aged 18 and 19, both from Shelbyville, were charged with rioting. One of them confessed to videotaping the incident, according to the arrest affidavit.
“Street racing and dealing with this is a priority for the police department,” stressed Captain Jones, highlighting the commitment of law enforcement agencies to tackle this issue head-on.
