The shooting occurred at the Walmart located on Pentagon Boulevard, prompting a swift response from law enforcement authorities. The Greene County Coroner’s Office confirmed their presence at the scene, indicating the severity of the situation.

Crawford was fatally shot by a police officer after a 911 caller reported him carrying what appeared to be a gun through the store. However, it was later determined to be a pellet gun that Crawford had picked up inside the store.

In response to Crawford’s death, his family filed a wrongful death lawsuit against the city of Beavercreek. In 2020, the lawsuit was settled, with the city paying Crawford’s estate and family a total of $1.7 million in compensation.
