Police have announced the arrest of a suspect in connection with a shocking killing that has sent shockwaves through the typically peaceful city of Pasadena, Southern California. The incident unfolded on November 18, 2023, when the Pasadena Police Department responded to a gunshot detection alert from ShotSpotter at Washington Park, situated in the 700 block of East Washington Blvd. The discovery of a homicide at the scene left the community devastated.

The victim has been identified as 64-year-old Mickey Cooper, a respected resident of Pasadena. Authorities found Cooper unresponsive, with multiple gunshot wounds, and sadly, he was pronounced dead at the scene. Initially, Conell was booked for Assault with a Firearm in an unrelated crime. However, following a weekend of continued investigation and the acquisition of additional evidence related to the death of Mickey Cooper, the charges against Conell were amended to include Murder, according to police officials.
