The TPD responded to a distress call at approximately 6:00 p.m., rushing to the scene of the shooting near E. 31st St. and S. Mingo Rd. Upon arrival, officers discovered a male victim suffering from a gunshot wound. Despite their best efforts, the victim succumbed to his injuries while being transported to the hospital.
As the investigation unfolds, the police are actively searching for the individuals responsible for this senseless act of violence. The victim has been identified as 26-year-old Mikaleb Fitzgerald-White, whose life was tragically cut short by this incident.
Investigators have learned that Fitzgerald-White was in the company of a woman at a strip mall in the vicinity where they encountered two male suspects. Later, the two males crossed paths with Fitzgerald-White and the woman once again. Shockingly, during this encounter, one of the suspects brandished a firearm and attempted to rob them. In a horrifying turn of events, the suspect shot Fitzgerald-White during the course of the robbery.
Through their diligent investigation, the detectives have identified 24-year-old Deandre Marsalis as the suspected shooter. Marsalis has since been apprehended and taken into custody, facing charges of first-degree murder. However, the search for the second suspect is still ongoing, as the authorities work tirelessly to bring all those involved to justice.
