Bengaluru: In a tragic incident that occurred on Sunday morning near the Hope Farm junction in Bengaluru’s Whitefield area, Karnataka Energy Minister KJ George has announced a compensation of Rs 5 lakh to the family of the victim. The incident, which resulted in the death of a mother and her nine-month-old daughter due to electrocution, has shocked the city.

The deceased has been identified as Soundarya, a 23-year-old woman. The incident took place within the jurisdiction of the Kadugodi police station. He stated that an investigation has been launched into the incident and three employees of the Bangalore Electricity Supply Company Limited (Bescom) have been suspended for negligence. According to witnesses, the father of the child was present at the scene and desperately tried to save his daughter and wife but was unable to do so. The incident has left the entire community in shock and mourning.

Following the incident, Bescom has taken immediate action by suspending five officials for their alleged negligence. Additionally, show-cause notices have been issued to two senior officers within the company. The incident occurred around 5:30 am when Soundarya and her daughter, Leela, accidentally came into contact with a live 11 KV wire that had fallen on the footpath at Hope Farm Signal.
