Tragic Accident Claims Young Woman’s Life as Deer Crashes Through SUV Windshield

BROWN COUNTY, Wisconsin – In a devastating turn of events, a young woman lost her life when a deer unexpectedly crashed through the windshield of the Ford Expedition she was traveling in. The incident occurred in a wooded area along the 5800-block of State Highway 57/Sturgeon Bay Rd., near New Franken, on a fateful Saturday night.

Victim Identified

The victim has been publicly identified as 18-year-old Paulette Benites, a resident of Sturgeon Bay. Paulette was a passenger in the SUV, driven by 54-year-old Wilder Benites-Arcibia, who also resides in Sturgeon Bay. Tragically, Paulette lost her life in the accident, while Wilder suffered serious injuries and was promptly rushed to a Green Bay hospital for treatment.

The Accident Sequence

According to preliminary investigations conducted by the Brown County Sheriff’s Office, it is believed that a deer crashed through the windshield of the SUV, causing the driver to lose control of the vehicle. As a result, the SUV veered across the southbound lanes and eventually careened off the road.

A Desperate Search for Survivors

Emergency responders were swiftly dispatched to the scene after the accident was reported just before 8:30 pm. Upon arrival, they discovered Wilder Benites-Arcibia in a severely injured state. Despite his condition, he managed to inform rescuers that an 18-year-old passenger remained trapped in the wreckage. Unfortunately, he was unable to provide an exact location of the crash.

Undeterred, the determined rescuers scoured the area until they located the overturned SUV, approximately 60 feet away from the road. The young passenger, Paulette Benites, was found trapped inside the vehicle, succumbing to her injuries sustained during the unfortunate incident.

Ongoing Investigation

The Brown County Sheriff’s Office is currently conducting a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding the accident. Preliminary findings indicate that alcohol was not a contributing factor in the tragic incident. However, authorities are leaving no stone unturned as they seek to uncover all relevant details and establish a comprehensive understanding of the events leading up to the crash.
