Tiger Attack Claims the Life of Amol Ambadas Mungbhate, a Young Shepherd in Katlabodi Village

Accident – Death – Obituary News : Nagpur: A sense of anger and grief swept over the residents of Katlabodi village, located 25km from Nagpur, as news spread about the tragic death of a young shepherd. The 23-year-old victim, identified as Amol Ambadas Mungbhate, was killed by a tiger in the Mendhepathar reserve forest in the Kondhali range of Nagpur division.

The incident occurred on Saturday morning when Amol ventured deep into the forest to graze cattle. When he failed to return by late evening, the forest staff was alerted and the villagers immediately launched a search operation.

After an extensive hunt, the villagers came across Amol’s mutilated body near a perennial waterhole. Dhanraj Bhad, a member of the search party from Katlabodi, described the gruesome scene, stating, “The sight near the waterhole was horrifying. Amol’s tiffin, footwear, clothes, and axe were scattered under a tree. There was blood spilled all over. We followed a trail of body parts which led us to his partially consumed dead body. It was almost 11 pm when we found him. It appears that Amol was attacked by the tiger near the waterhole while he was eating.”

The incident has left the entire village in a state of shock and mourning. The loss of a young life has sparked anger among the villagers, who are now demanding stricter measures to prevent such incidents in the future. They believe that authorities should take immediate action to address the growing human-wildlife conflict in the region.
