LUCKNOW: In a significant development, a CBI trap team apprehended a sanitary inspector from the Cantonment Board in Meerut, Uttar Pradesh, for allegedly demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 15,000 on Monday. The accused has been identified as Yogesh Yadav.

According to reports, a case was filed against two sanitary inspectors based on a complaint lodged by a complainant who alleged that they demanded a bribe of Rs 25,000. The complainant was involved in the reconstruction of three shops in the Meerut Cantonment Board.

The complainant further claimed that the construction of three shops located in Lal Kurti, Meerut Cantonment, was entrusted to him by the owner. However, to continue the construction work, both accused, who were working at the office of the CEO of the Cantonment Board in Meerut, demanded a bribe of Rs 25,000.

Taking swift action, the CBI laid a trap and caught the sanitary inspector red-handed while he was demanding and accepting the undue advantage and bribe amount of Rs 15,000 from the complainant. Following the arrest, searches were conducted at the premises of both the accused.

The arrested accused, Yogesh Yadav, was produced before the court of the special judge in Ghaziabad, where he was remanded to judicial custody until November 30. The investigation into both the cases is currently ongoing.
