DENVER (KDVR) — Earl Garczynski has been charged in connection with a road rage crash that occurred six months ago in Boulder County, resulting in the deaths of two individuals and serious injuries to another. According to an indictment from the 20th Judicial District Attorney’s Office, the crash involved a maroon Dodge Ram 1500 and a black Camaro in the southbound lanes. The impact caused the Camaro to cross the median into the northbound lanes, where it was then struck by a Toyota Tundra. Bicycles attached to the back of the Camaro were also hit by a Jeep Cherokee.

Tragically, the crash resulted in the deaths of the Camaro’s driver, Daniel Wright, and his front seat passenger, James Jacobson. The driver of the Toyota Tundra, Jeffrey Laguna, suffered serious injuries. Meanwhile, the driver of the Dodge Ram fled the scene.

After a thorough investigation that included reviewing video evidence and interviewing witnesses, investigators determined that the crash was motivated by road rage. The driver of the Dodge Ram had initially pulled onto the highway median to engage in an argument with the occupants of the Camaro. Although the Camaro attempted to drive away, the Dodge Ram pursued it at a high speed of 100 mph, initiating a dangerous and aggressive road rage incident.

Multiple witnesses reported seeing the driver of the Dodge Ram tailgating, brake checking, swerving, and intentionally colliding with the Camaro. As a result, the Camaro spun out and entered the northbound lanes.

Law enforcement authorities had to locate the driver of the Dodge Ram, Earl Garczynski, who had failed to turn himself in. Garczynski initially denied any involvement in the crash during a voluntary interview with the Colorado State Patrol. However, his story changed multiple times. Investigators also spoke to a friend of Garczynski who was on the phone with him at the time of the incident and confirmed that he was angry at the Camaro.

District Attorney Michael Dougherty expressed gratitude to the Colorado State Patrol, District Attorney Investigators, and prosecutors for their diligent work on the investigation. He stated, “With this indictment, we can now move forward with holding the person who caused this horrific crash fully responsible.”

Earl Garczynski is now facing nine charges, including first-degree murder and vehicular homicide. He is currently in custody on a $1 million bond.

The tragic incident serves as a reminder of the dangers of road rage and the devastating consequences it can have. Authorities continue to emphasize the importance of maintaining calm and avoiding aggressive behavior while driving to prevent such tragic incidents from occurring.
