AYODHYA: Tragedy struck at a sugar mill in Ayodhya, Uttar Pradesh, when a powerful blast occurred in the turbine, resulting in the death of an electrical engineer. The incident took place on Monday, leaving workers and farmers in a state of panic.

The engineer, identified as Vipin Singh, aged 38, was killed in the blast. The explosion caused a fire that quickly engulfed the mill, causing chaos and panic among the workers and farmers who had gathered to deliver their sugarcane harvest.

According to Ratan Kumar Sharma, the in-charge of Pura Kalandar police station, the blast occurred around 2:30 pm, causing extensive smoke and flames. The fire department was immediately informed, and they dispatched five fire tenders to the scene. It took them two hours to bring the blaze under control.

Police sources revealed that the sugarcane crushing operation was in full swing when the blast occurred. It was determined that a technical fault in the power supply disrupted the electricity flow to two electric motors. Vipin Singh was inspecting the snag when the overload in the power generation plant caused the blast, resulting in his unfortunate demise.

Singh was rushed to the district hospital by a police team, where he was pronounced dead. VM Mishra, the general manager (personal) of the mill, confirmed that the turbine had been installed in 2005 and was undergoing routine maintenance when the malfunction occurred.

Mishra explained, “The computer controlling the turbine experienced a technical glitch, which triggered a spark and ignited the machine. The resulting blast caused the turbine to burst.”

The blast has had severe consequences for the mill’s operations. Mishra stated that the crushing season, which had just commenced, had to be temporarily halted following the incident. An investigation has been launched to determine the cause of the technical malfunction and subsequent turbine blast.
