Memphis, TN – The Memphis Police Department confirmed that the suspect responsible for the killings of three women and a 13-year-old girl in a shooting spree across the city on Saturday night has been found dead. Identified as 52-year-old Mavis Christian Jr., the police described the incident as a domestic violence situation, as he was a known relative to the victims.

The police were initially alerted to the first crime scene at Field Lark Drive, where they discovered the lifeless bodies of the teenage girl and another victim at around 5:40 p.m. A fifth victim, a 15-year-old girl, was critically injured in the attack and remains hospitalized. Authorities have not provided details about the relationship between the victims and Christian.

Approximately an hour later, at 6:40 p.m., the third victim was found dead at 5050 Warrington Road, around 13 miles away from the initial shooting location. The identities of the victims have not been released at this time.

Following the shootings, Christian had evaded authorities for the entire day. However, he was discovered dead inside a 2017 white Chevrolet Malibu on Sunday, putting an end to the manhunt. Local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies had been working together to investigate the four fatal shootings that occurred in different locations across the city.

Public Information Officer Christopher Williams of the Memphis Police Department expressed his heartfelt sorrow, stating, “As a father, it breaks my heart. These were somebody’s kids, sisters, aunts. These were people, real people. We have to do better. We must do better. As a community, it takes all of us. Not just the police, not just the community, but we have to work together to stop senseless acts of violence. We’re tired of it. The community’s tired of it.”

The investigation into the motive behind the shooting spree is ongoing, and authorities are working to gather more information about the circumstances leading up to the tragic incident.
