KAMAREDDY: A local Congress leader in Gandivet village of Gandhari Mandal is facing charges of assault after allegedly attacking three individuals on Saturday evening. The police have registered a case against the accused, Bheemdas, under Section 307 (attempt to murder) of the Indian Penal Code. The investigation is currently underway, and authorities have stressed that the incident is not politically or communally motivated.

The victims, identified as Rajak, Javid, and Ahmed, were reportedly assaulted following a disagreement between Bheemdas and Rajak. According to Kamareddy Superintendent of Police (SP) Sindhu Sharma, the residents of Gandivet village are members of the ‘Madananna Saynyam’ WhatsApp group, which is administered by Bheemdas. The group was created to garner support for Yellareddy Congress candidate, K Madan Mohan Rao. Rajak, one of the victims, is also a member of this group. The altercation began after Bheemdas deleted some photos posted by Rajak, leading to tension between the two.

On the night of the incident, Rajak, accompanied by his friends Javid and Akbar, visited Bheemdas’ shop to confront him about the removal of the photos. A heated argument ensued, quickly escalating into a verbal altercation in public. Suddenly, Bheemdas brandished a knife and launched an attack on the trio. In self-defense, the victims also fought back against Bheemdas. The situation soon spiraled out of control, prompting intervention from villagers who managed to restore order and subsequently informed the police.

All three injured individuals were rushed to the Government General Hospital (GGH) in Nizamabad, where they are currently in stable condition. Bheemdas was also taken to a government hospital for treatment of his injuries. Interestingly, this incident occurred during the post-election campaign meetings of TPCC president A Revanth Reddy in Bhiknoor and Rajmpet mandals the day before.
