Accident – Death – Obituary News : PSP Launches Investigation into Hit-and-Run Incident in Mount Pleasant Township

Mount Pleasant Township, Pennsylvania – The Pennsylvania State Police (PSP) at Greensburg have initiated an investigation into a hit-and-run crash that occurred on November 10th at 5:59 p.m. The incident took place at Coen Markets, located at 2398 Mount Pleasant Road in Mount Pleasant Township.

According to the official police report, the incident involved two vehicles. Unit No. 2, a 2014 Chevrolet Silverado registered to Kelly L. Niehenke, a 55-year-old resident of Greensburg, was parked in a designated spot behind Unit No. 1, a Ford Ranger. The Ford Ranger was being operated by an unidentified driver whose model year remains unknown.

As Unit No. 1 was leaving the parking lot, it collided with Unit No. 2, causing minor damage to the driver’s side quarter panel. The Ford Ranger left the scene of the accident, traveling southbound. It is currently being sought by authorities.

Fortunately, no injuries were reported in the incident. It is unclear whether Niehenke was present in her vehicle at the time of the collision.

East Huntingdon Township, Pennsylvania – State police at Greensburg are investigating a hit-and-run crash that occurred on November 13th at approximately 5:20 a.m. The incident took place on Old Highway 119, east of Tech Center Drive in East Huntingdon Township.

According to the police report, the collision involved a 2019 Ram ProMaster ambulance. The driver, who remains unidentified, was traveling east on Old Highway 119 when the vehicle collided with a deer that was crossing the roadway. Investigators spoke with the driver at the scene, who claimed that the collision was unavoidable as the deer suddenly appeared on the road.

Thankfully, no injuries were reported in this incident.

Felony Arrest Made During Traffic Stop

New Stanton, Pennsylvania – State police at Greensburg conducted a routine traffic stop on November 13th at 1:16 p.m. The stop occurred at the intersection of Bair Boulevard and North Center Avenue in New Stanton.

Upon inspection, the passenger of the vehicle was identified as 23-year-old Savannah Marie Knopsnider, hailing from Irwin. A background check revealed an outstanding felony arrest warrant against her from Fayette County. As a result, Knopsnider was promptly taken into custody.

During the arrest, police discovered suspected drugs and drug paraphernalia in Knopsnider’s possession. Consequently, she was transported to the PSP Greensburg barracks for processing before being extradited to Fayette County to face charges related to the outstanding warrant.

The driver of the vehicle was identified as 27-year-old Zachary Galliete from Scottdale. Upon being requested to search the vehicle, Galliete refused to grant consent. As a precautionary measure, a PSP K-9 unit was called to the scene. The canine identified the presence of controlled substances within the vehicle, prompting the authorities to tow it to the PSP Greensburg barracks.

A search warrant was subsequently obtained for the vehicle, and upon inspection, investigators discovered suspected drugs and drug paraphernalia inside. Charges are expected to be filed against both Knopsnider and Galliete in the Magisterial District Court 10-3-10..
