Jilted Lover Kills Two Family Members and Injures Four Others in Bihar

Patna, November 20 (IANS) – A horrifying incident unfolded in Bihar’s Lakhisarai district on Monday, as a jilted lover went on a shooting spree, resulting in the death of two family members and leaving four others critically injured. The tragic incident occurred when the victims were returning home after participating in the Chhath Puja rituals at the ghat.

According to local authorities, three of the injured victims are in critical condition and have been transferred to the renowned Patna Medical College and Hospital (PMCH) for immediate medical attention.

Lakhisarai SP Pankaj Kumar, while confirming the incident, stated that a manhunt is currently underway to apprehend the perpetrator, identified as Aashish Choudhary.

“Aashish Choudhary had developed an infatuation with a girl from the victims’ family. Despite their reluctance, he persistently pressured them for marriage. Approximately ten days ago, an argument ensued between Aashish and the girl’s family, as they refused to consent to the marriage proposal. This rejection appears to be the motive behind his attack on Monday morning,” explained SP Kumar.

The victims, identified as Chandan Jha and Rajnandan Jha, both 31 years old, tragically lost their lives on the spot. Meanwhile, Durga Jha, Preeti Devi, and Shashi Bhushan Jha are currently fighting for their lives at PMCH Patna. Another victim, Lovely Devi, sustained injuries and is undergoing treatment at Sadar Hospital in Lakhisarai.

“In order to capture Aashish Choudhary, we have formed a dedicated team who are conducting raids in different locations. He has been charged with murder under relevant sections of the law at the Kavaiya police station in the district,” added SP Kumar.

This shocking incident has left the entire community in grief and shock. The police are leaving no stone unturned to bring the accused to justice and provide support to the affected family members.
