Special CP RS Yadav, providing further details, informed that the investigation into the surge in high-end luxury cars and motorcycles thefts led the police to scrutinize CCTV footage of the incidents. Acting on intelligence that two suspected vehicle thieves belonging to a syndicate would be operating in the vicinity of the Patparganj area, a team swiftly conducted a well-executed raid, successfully apprehending the two accused individuals, namely Jaspreet Singh and Kamruddin, without any incident, Yadav added.

Interrogation of the suspects revealed their modus operandi, which involved conducting thorough reconnaissance of unguarded areas and service roads, where vehicles were often parked without proper security measures. Subsequently, they executed their thefts during the early hours of the morning, taking advantage of the lack of vigilance during this time.

“The criminals would break the side quarter glass of the target vehicle’s window. After gaining access, they would proceed to unlock the steering lock using a master key and sophisticated gadgets. By hacking into the vehicle’s software and altering the ignition programming, they would create a new key, enabling them to flee with the stolen car,” explained the senior police officer.

Once stolen, the vehicles would be concealed in parking lots situated close to the city borders, strategically chosen to avoid suspicion. The gang would then proceed to sell the stolen automobiles in various regions, including eastern Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, and Guwahati.
