Accident – Death – Obituary News : FIR Registered Against Youth in Karnataka’s Udupi District for Spreading Hatred

Udupi, Nov 20 (IANS) A young individual in Karnataka’s Udupi district is now facing legal consequences after making a statement on social media that propagated violence. The local police have filed a First Information Report (FIR) against the accused, identified as Hafeez Muhammad from Shivamogga, for spreading hatred and inciting communal tensions.

The FIR has been filed under Indian Penal Code (IPC) Section 155, which holds a person liable if a riot is committed for their benefit, and IPC Section 505 (2), which deals with the act of circulating false statements or information to create disharmony within society.

The accused had posted a message on social media where he expressed regret over a missed opportunity to “finish off” the killer of a Muslim family. Specifically, he mentioned that the residents of Nejaru in Udupi district should have lynched Praveen Chougale without any prior preparations. Chougale is a jilted lover who was arrested on charges of killing four individuals, including three women, and has been in police custody for investigation purposes.

The Udupi Cyber, Economics, and Narcotics (CEN) Crime Police Station have registered the case, and a manhunt has been initiated to apprehend the accused, Hafeez Muhammad.

This incident follows another recent case where an Instagram page called ‘Hindu Mantra’ faced an FIR for celebrating the murders. The page had glorified the act committed by Chougale, stating that he had set a world record by killing four Muslims in just 15 minutes. The post featured a photo of the accused adorned with a crown emoji.

The CEN Police Station in Udupi has taken up the investigation into this matter and has registered a case against the Instagram page for promoting communal hatred.

Additionally, the post on the Instagram page mentioned the lack of support for the victims in the Udupi restroom video case, where Hindu girls were filmed without their consent. It implied that since no Muslims had condemned the incident, there would be a similar lack of support for the victims in the recent case of the killing of four individuals from the Muslim community.

The police have taken this matter seriously and are determined to tackle the spread of communal hatred. They have registered a case against the Instagram page to curb any divisive narratives that may incite violence and communal disharmony.

The perpetrator of the heinous crime, Praveen Arun Chougale, a 37-year-old employee at Mangaluru International Airport, confessed that issues related to friendship, love for Aynaz, and financial matters drove him to commit the gruesome act. Chougale brutally murdered Haseena (46), Afnan (23), Aynaz (21), and Aseem (12) at their residence.

The local authorities are working diligently to uphold peace and unity in the region, ensuring that such incidents of hatred and violence are dealt with swiftly and firmly.
