The victim, identified as Barbara Cruz, was described by her daughter Brenda Baker as a beautiful, dedicated, and kind mother. In a heartfelt plea for help, Baker expressed the profound impact of their loss, stating, “This profound loss has been devastating to us all.”

To alleviate the financial burdens caused by this tragedy, the family has set up a GoFundMe campaign in Cruz’s name. The campaign aims to raise funds for travel expenses, funeral costs, and to help ease the family’s financial strain during this difficult time.

According to the Bristol District Attorney’s Office, the incident unfolded when a relative of Cruz requested a well-being check at her residence on 162 Summer St. in Tiverton, Rhode Island. The relative had been on a phone call with Cruz when they heard shouting and the line abruptly disconnected. Concerned, they called back only to receive no response.

When authorities arrived at the scene, they discovered two individuals deceased from gunshot wounds. An 84-year-old woman, who was unharmed, was also present in the home. The preliminary investigation revealed that Omar Bradley, a 72-year-old man who had been living with the uninjured woman, shot and killed Cruz before taking his own life.
