Tulsa County Sheriff’s Office Investigates Fatal Shooting at North Tulsa Dollar General

TULSA, Okla. — The Tulsa County Sheriff’s Office (TCSO) has launched an investigation into a tragic incident that occurred early Monday morning at a Dollar General store in north Tulsa. According to authorities, an employee was shot and killed, and the suspect managed to flee the scene. FOX23 reporters were present outside the store located at the intersection of Pine and Yale, where the crime took place.

Deputies have identified the victim as 46-year-old Paul Nelson Schultz, who was known to be homeless and had been living in a tent adjacent to the store. Casey Roebuck, a spokesperson for TCSO, stated, “The victim was a familiar face in this area. Despite being homeless, he worked at the store and had set up a tent just behind me.”

Law enforcement officials revealed that Schultz was seated in the parking lot shortly after midnight when an individual drove up and engaged in a heated argument with him. The altercation escalated, resulting in the assailant firing a fatal shot at Schultz before promptly leaving the scene. Sadly, Schultz succumbed to his injuries at the hospital approximately an hour later.

At this stage, the police remain uncertain about the motives behind the shooting. Moreover, the surveillance cameras installed in the vicinity do not capture audio. As part of their ongoing investigation, authorities are attempting to obtain footage from a nearby gas station in the hope that it may provide valuable leads.
