Frederick Man Arrested for Attempted Murder of Girlfriend

A Frederick man is now facing serious charges of attempted murder after allegedly stabbing and strangling his girlfriend in a horrifying assault.

In the early hours of Saturday, November 18, authorities received an urgent call from Frederick Health Hospital regarding a woman who had been brutally attacked and was in need of immediate medical attention.

According to the police report, the 19-year-old victim had sustained a stab wound to her torso and had also been strangled by her boyfriend, identified as 21-year-old Elmer Yovani Alvarado Sanchez. The incident took place at their residence on Alban Ct., located in the 1200 Block of Frederick.

Responding promptly, additional officers arrived at the scene and promptly apprehended Alvarado Sanchez. Evidence of the assault was discovered at the residence, and multiple witnesses were interviewed to gather further information. During the investigation, it was revealed that Alvarado Sanchez had made death threats against the victim shortly before carrying out the vicious attack.

Following his arrest, Alvarado Sanchez was transported to the Frederick County Adult Detention Center, where he faces various charges, including first-degree attempted murder, first-degree assault, and second-degree assault.

Meanwhile, the victim received immediate medical treatment for her injuries at the hospital and was subsequently released on Saturday evening, marking the end of her traumatic ordeal.
