Suspect in the Murder of 15-Year-Old Girl Apprehended in Harrison Twp.

HARRISON TWP. — Authorities have successfully taken one of the two persons of interest into custody in connection with the tragic death of a 15-year-old girl in Harrison Township.

The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office has identified Tommy Moreland, 29, and Denisha Taylor, 32, both residents of Dayton, as persons of interest for murder, failure to comply with the signal or order of a Police Officer, and tampering with evidence.

In an exclusive report, News Center 7 was present as detectives from the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office apprehended Denisha Taylor on Monday afternoon. Video footage captured by News Center 7’s Mike Campbell showed detectives escorting Taylor from the sheriff’s office to the Montgomery County Jail. It has since been revealed that Taylor voluntarily turned herself in.

The shooting incident occurred on Friday morning at the intersection of Philadelphia Drive and Turner Road, involving two vehicles. Tragically, a 15-year-old girl, who was a passenger in a Chevrolet Impala, was shot and killed during the incident.

Investigators have identified a maroon Toyota RAV4 as one of the vehicles present at the scene and involved in the shooting. Subsequently, detectives spotted the SUV and engaged in a high-speed pursuit several hours after the shooting. The vehicle was later discovered abandoned several miles away, as confirmed by a spokesperson from the sheriff’s office.

Tommy Moreland and Denisha Taylor were identified through surveillance footage as the driver and passenger of the maroon SUV following the shooting. Additionally, they were captured on surveillance video at a nearby carwash shortly after the incident.

Miami Valley Crime Stoppers is offering a reward of up to $5,000 for credible information leading to the location, arrest, and successful prosecution of Moreland and Taylor.
