The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office has identified Tommy Moreland, 29, and Denisha Taylor, 32, both from Dayton, as persons of interest in connection with the murder. In addition to murder charges, Moreland and Taylor are also facing charges of failure to comply with the signal or order of a Police Officer, as well as tampering with evidence.

Detectives working on the case have identified a maroon Toyota RAV4 as one of the vehicles involved in the shooting. This SUV was later spotted by law enforcement officers, leading to a high-speed chase that occurred several hours after the initial incident. Ultimately, the vehicle was found abandoned several miles away from the scene, according to a spokesperson from the sheriff’s office.
Video surveillance footage played a crucial role in identifying Moreland and Taylor as the driver and passenger of the Toyota RAV4 after the shooting. Additionally, they were spotted in surveillance video at a nearby carwash shortly after the incident, strengthening the case against them.
In an effort to expedite the capture of the persons of interest, Miami Valley Crime Stoppers is offering a reward of up to $5,000 for any credible information that leads to the location, arrest, and successful prosecution of Moreland and Taylor. Callers can remain anonymous, ensuring that their identities are protected.
