Car Driver Sukhchain Singh Arrested for Fatally Running Over Two Women Under MNREGA Scheme in Ludhiana

Accident – Death – Obituary News : Ludhiana: A car driver was arrested by Maloud Police after he tragically ran over two women who were working under the MNREGA scheme in the area, causing their untimely deaths. The accused has been identified as Sukhchain Singh, a resident of Ramgarh Bora in Patiala district. The incident occurred on Saturday at approximately 4:30 pm.

The complainant, Hakam Singh of Lehal village and husband of the deceased, 55-year-old Baljinder Kaur, reported to the police that his wife and another woman named Buddha, both engaged in the MNREGA scheme, were diligently working in the area alongside 35 to 36 other women. According to Singh, he and Dalwara Singh, Buddha’s son, were heading towards Sua Pull Rara Sahib after completing their work when they witnessed a white Swift car approaching at high speed.

Singh further stated that the driver was not only speeding but also driving on the wrong side of the road. In a horrific turn of events, the driver collided with the MNREGA workers, resulting in the immediate death of his wife Baljinder Kaur and Buddha. The impact of the accident was fatal, leaving no chance for survival.

Following the incident, the police filed a case against the accused driver under sections 279 (Rash driving or riding on a public way) and 304 A (causing death due to negligence) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
