A shocking case of alleged child abuse has taken a disturbing turn as a teacher accused of indecent treatment of children has now been charged with more than 200 additional offences. The 35-year-old man, who was arrested in north Queensland, initially faced five charges. However, detectives investigating the case allegedly discovered further child exploitation material on his electronic devices, leading to the additional charges.

On Saturday, the accused was charged with a staggering 64 counts of indecent treatment and 61 counts of involving a child in making child exploitation material. In addition, he has been charged with 42 counts of making child exploitation material, 26 counts of taking a child for an immoral purpose, and seven counts of using a carriage service to access child abuse material.

The alleged offences are said to have taken place in Cairns, with the accused being an employee of Education Queensland. As part of the ongoing investigation, a total of 24 complainants have been identified. However, the police are urging anyone with more information to come forward.

Detective Acting Inspector Jason Chetham emphasized the importance of gathering all relevant details, stating, “However, we’re certainly open to receiving more information.” The police are working diligently to ensure justice for all victims involved in this distressing case.

In light of the traumatic nature of the events, affected families have been offered referrals to counseling services by the police. This support aims to provide necessary assistance and help victims cope with the emotional aftermath.
