According to a press release issued by Chief C. Shane Guyant, the officer promptly pulled over the vehicle in the 1100 block of Jackson Street. The driver, identified as Arniesha Latiffah Malone, a 33-year-old resident of Roanoke Rapids, was met with a strong odor of alcohol emanating from within the vehicle.

Further investigation revealed that Malone’s driver’s license had been suspended for a 30-day civil revocation. This suspension was a consequence of a previous DWI charge she had received in Halifax County on October 27th. Additionally, Malone had a NCDMV restriction code 19, which limited her to a Breath Alcohol Concentration (BAC) of 0.04 due to a DWI conviction in 2020.

Master Officer K. Williams arrived at the scene to assist with standardized field sobriety testing. Following the completion of these tests, it was determined that Malone was indeed impaired, leading to her subsequent arrest. She was then transported to the Roanoke Rapids Police Department, where she willingly underwent a chemical analysis of her breath, revealing a BAC of 0.13. In North Carolina, the legal limit for driving is set at a BAC of 0.08.

As a result of her actions, Malone now faces several charges, including driving while intoxicated (DWI), driving with a revoked license, failure to comply with license restrictions, and driving without insurance. Due to pending charges at the time of her arrest, she was remanded to the Halifax County Detention Center without bond for 48 hours. Malone has been assigned a court date scheduled for December 11th.
