Accident – Death – Obituary News : Tragic Accident Claims the Life of a Woman in Begoro

Begoro, Eastern Region – In a heart-wrenching incident on Sunday evening, a fatal accident involving a Kia Rhino truck and a tricycle has resulted in the death of a woman. The unfortunate incident took place at around 6:00 pm on November 19, 2023.

The victim, identified only as Pat, tragically succumbed to her injuries after being run over by the Rhino vehicle. The tricycle rider and another passenger also suffered serious injuries and were immediately rushed to the hospital for urgent medical attention.

Upon receiving the distress call, emergency services including the National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO), the Police Service, and the Ghana Fire Service promptly arrived at the scene to provide assistance and ensure the safety of those involved.

The deceased’s body has been transferred to the morgue for preservation, as investigations into the accident continue.

This incident adds to the growing number of road accidents that have plagued the nation in recent times. Just two days prior, on November 17, 2023, a DAF Cargo Truck collided with a motorcycle at Offinso-Adukro in the Ashanti region. Tragically, one person lost their life instantly, while several others sustained injuries.

Similarly, on November 16, 2023, a Kia Rhino truck crashed into the Suame Divisional Police Headquarters building in the Ashanti Region, claiming the life of one person and critically injuring a baby.

In yet another incident on the same day, a hit-and-run driver struck and killed a woman believed to be in her late 40s at Flat Top near Lapaz in Accra.

The frequency of these accidents is deeply concerning, as they continue to result in loss of life and severe injuries. On November 12, 2023, a devastating head-on collision between a Pontiac Vibe and a Toyota Hiace claimed the lives of four people, leaving 12 others in critical condition, in Akyem Koforidua, Eastern region.

Earlier, on September 30, 2023, a horrific collision between a Grandbird bus and a Toyota mini-bus along the eastern corridor road between Peki-Adzokoe and Tsibu resulted in the tragic death of at least 20 people. The Grandbird bus was traveling from Accra to Chinderi in the Oti Region, while the Toyota mini-bus was en route from Hohoe to Accra.

Another accident occurred on September 28, 2023, at Gomoa Potsin on the Kasoa-Winneba Highway in the Central Region. Four vehicles, including a Toyota Hiace loaded with pineapples, a Kia Rhino loaded with tires and wheelbarrows, a Toyota Corolla, and a Nissan Patrol, were involved in the collision, injuring two drivers.

The increasing number of road accidents highlights the urgent need for improved road safety measures and stricter enforcement of traffic regulations. Authorities must prioritize initiatives to educate drivers and enhance road infrastructure to prevent further loss of lives and injuries.

As the nation mourns the loss of the woman in Begoro, it is crucial for all stakeholders to come together and work towards creating safer roads for everyone.
