Manoj Shahu Faces Potential Murder Charges in Kerala Following Tragic Death of Elderly Victim

KOCHI: A shocking incident has rocked the state of Kerala, as Manoj Shahu, a 29-year-old migrant worker hailing from Bihar, is now at risk of facing murder charges after an elderly individual tragically passed away on Monday morning. The victim, identified as 78-year-old Badharudheen from Chowara near Aluva, had been receiving medical treatment since being subjected to a brutal assault by Shahu.

The distressing incident occurred on the evening of August 7, around 11:30 p.m, when Shahu allegedly broke into Badharudheen’s residence with the intent of committing robbery. Taking advantage of the victim’s slumber, Shahu mercilessly attacked him with a wooden rod, causing severe fractures in his jaw and head. Badharudheen was immediately rushed to Amrita Hospital, where he remained under medical care until just recently. Prior to the incident, he had served as an esteemed ex-serviceman and later worked as a dedicated security guard at the prominent public sector telecom company BSNL.

As the investigation unfolds, the police are eagerly awaiting the results of the medical report, which will shed light on the cause of death and help establish a direct link between the assault and the untimely demise of the elderly victim.

“The migrant worker is currently in police custody. Despite his advanced age of 78, Badharudheen was in good health prior to the assault. However, his condition deteriorated rapidly following the attack by Shahu. We are anxiously awaiting the comprehensive medical and autopsy reports, which will provide us with crucial insights into the exact cause of death. If it is conclusively proven that Badharudheen’s demise resulted from the assault, stringent murder charges will undoubtedly be pressed against the accused,” stated the Nedumbassery police, the authority responsible for registering the case.
