Adam Cole Ruhaak, who is also charged with misdemeanor counts of fleeing/eluding, interference with a peace officer, criminal entry, and driving with a suspended license, was apprehended on a failure to appear warrant.

The incident began when deputies received a call about a stolen vehicle in the 2700 block of East 12th Street. Although the vehicle initially stopped for a deputy, it suddenly sped off before other law enforcement officers could arrive. Ruhaak was later identified as the driver.

According to the booking sheet, Ruhaak drove a few blocks before abandoning the stolen vehicle in the 1100 block of Johnson Avenue. He then fled on foot, evading deputies through a business in the 2700 block of East 12th Street. It was later determined that Ruhaak did not have permission to be in the business premises. As he ran through the store, he caused damage by knocking over items and breaking a few things, according to authorities.

In an attempt to evade capture, Ruhaak jumped over fences and hid in nearby yards. However, another deputy spotted him just west of the business he had run through. As Ruhaak tried to escape through another backyard, he was apprehended by officers.

Ruhaak was subsequently taken to the Laramie County Detention Center, where he was booked on the new charges as well as the outstanding warrant. The warrant had been issued due to his failure to appear for sentencing on an original charge of criminal entry.

The Laramie County Sheriff’s Office is commended for their swift response and apprehension of the suspect. Such incidents highlight the importance of law enforcement agencies working diligently to maintain public safety and protect communities.

This case serves as a reminder for individuals to always obey the law and respect the property of others. Engaging in criminal activities, such as vehicle theft and evading law enforcement, can lead to serious consequences and legal trouble.
