A tragic one-car accident occurred in the early hours of Sunday on Highway 17 near Eagle Grove, resulting in the untimely death of a 36-year-old man from Webster City.

The victim has been identified as Jose Casiano. According to the Iowa State Patrol report, the incident unfolded when Casiano, behind the wheel of a 2012 Mercedes Benz GL 450, began exhibiting erratic driving behavior on Highway 17 in Eagle Grove. Subsequently, a Wright County Sheriff’s deputy initiated an effort to pull over Casiano’s vehicle, which was reportedly traveling at speeds exceeding 130 miles per hour.

Unfortunately, Casiano failed to navigate a sharp curve, causing his vehicle to veer off the road and crash into a roadside ditch. Tragically, the driver was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident, resulting in his ejection from the vehicle and fatal injuries.

The loss of life due to this incident serves as a somber reminder of the importance of adhering to traffic regulations and ensuring the use of safety restraints. The Iowa State Patrol and local law enforcement agencies continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the accident.
