Accident – Death – Obituary News : Man Killed and Ten Injured in Balloon Seller’s Helium Cylinder Explosion at Chhath Ghat in Bihar’s West Champaran District

In a tragic incident on Monday morning, a 30-year-old man lost his life while ten others sustained injuries after a helium-filled cylinder, used by a balloon seller, exploded at a Chhath Ghat in Bihar’s West Champaran district.

The deceased has been identified as a resident of Pakadiya village in Chanpatiya block. The incident took place at around 4:30 am when a group of minors and villagers had gathered near the balloon seller, awaiting their turn to purchase balloons. Suddenly, the cylinder being used by the seller exploded, causing chaos and panic among the crowd.

According to an official, the explosion occurred while the balloon seller was filling air into a balloon intended for children at Pakadiya Chhath Ghat in Chanpatiya block. The sudden blast resulted in the loss of one life, while three injured individuals are currently undergoing treatment at the government medical college and hospital (GMCH) in Bettiah.

Rakesh Kumar, the Circle Officer (CO) of Chanpatiya, stated, “While one person succumbed to his injuries during treatment at Bettiah, three others are currently being treated at GMCH. Additionally, seven individuals, including several minors, were discharged after receiving first aid at the primary health center in Chanpatiya.”

The local police have initiated an investigation into the incident, and Manish Kumar, the Station House Officer (SHO) of Chanpatiya, confirmed that four of the injured victims were referred to GMCH in Bettiah for further medical attention. “We are looking into the matter,” added the SHO.

Preliminary findings suggest that the explosion may have been caused by an excessive quantity of chemicals, most likely helium, according to a police official. The exact cause of the explosion is yet to be determined.

Mohammed Shahnwaz, the health manager at GMCH, informed that two patients are in a stable condition.
