In a tragic incident, a 27-year-old police constable, identified as Indrajeet Salunkhe, ended his life by hanging himself inside the library at the police camp in Worli, Mumbai. The constable had reportedly engaged in an altercation with his female friend after she caught him chatting with another woman on social media. Following the argument, the woman blocked him, which allegedly led to Salunkhe’s decision to take his own life.

According to police officials, Salunkhe was posted in the Local Arms department of the Mumbai Police and resided in a police camp at Worli. On the day of the incident, he had met his 23-year-old girlfriend at Buddha Garden near Worli Chowpatty. However, their meeting took a sour turn when the woman discovered him chatting with another woman on Instagram.

After the heated argument, Salunkhe dropped his girlfriend off at Dadar railway station and returned home. Later, he discovered that his girlfriend had blocked him from contacting her, which seemingly pushed him to the brink. Desperate to reach her, he made several unsuccessful attempts before tragically deciding to end his own life.

The constable took a drastic step by tying a nylon rope to the window of the library. In a disturbing turn of events, he sent a picture of himself hanging to his girlfriend’s friend, along with a message indicating his intentions. He then proceeded to hang himself, leading to his untimely demise.

Upon being informed, the Worli police rushed to the scene and promptly transported Salunkhe to BYL Nair hospital. Tragically, he was declared dead during treatment. The police have registered a case of accidental death report (ADR) and are currently conducting further investigations into the matter.

An officer involved in the case stated, “His brother has informed us that Salunkhe did not have any complaints against anyone, which is why we have registered an ADR.” The police are exploring all angles to ascertain the circumstances that led to the constable’s extreme step.
