Accident – Death – Obituary News : A 25-year-old woman from Indiana has been sentenced to several decades in prison for the murder of another woman outside a nightclub. Arieal Smith gunned down Secoya Williams because Smith’s sister was jealous of the attention Williams was receiving from her ex-boyfriend. The incident took place in February 2022, and Marion County Superior Court Judge Jeffrey L. Marchal recently ordered Smith to serve a 48-year sentence in a state correctional facility.

In addition to the murder charge, Smith was also found guilty of felony pointing a firearm at another person and carrying a handgun without a license. However, the latter charge was later vacated by the court. Judge Marchal specifically sentenced Smith to 47 years for the murder charge and one year for the pointing a firearm charge. Ebonie Parks, the sister of the shooter, was also arrested in connection with the murder. She was found guilty of assisting a criminal in the commission of a murder and has been ordered to remain in home detention for two years.

The incident occurred outside Club Kalakutah, a nightclub located in Indianapolis. According to the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department, officers responded to an emergency call about a person being shot outside the club in the early hours of February 25, 2022. When they arrived, they found Secoya Williams suffering from a gunshot wound to the torso. She was rushed to a local hospital but unfortunately succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced dead.

Further details about the incident were revealed in court documents obtained by Indianapolis Fox affiliate WXIN. Witnesses at the scene reported that Smith and Williams had gotten into an altercation inside the club. Smith threw a drink in Williams’ face, who was there to see a male friend perform. The friend had previously dated Parks, the sister of the shooter. Security guards escorted Smith out of the club, but the dispute continued later in the evening.

Williams approached the vehicle Smith was in and began knocking on the window. Smith then opened the car door and fired a single shot, hitting Williams in the stomach. Parks drove the vehicle away from the scene.

The sisters were arrested less than a week later and claimed that they had shot Williams by accident while attempting to fire a warning shot.
